One Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash South of Marfa

One person was killed and another injured in a single-vehicle crash late Friday night south of Marfa, according to law enforcement.

Presidio County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash at approximately 8:28 p.m. on U.S. Highway 67, where a vehicle reportedly left the roadway and struck an electrical pole.

Authorities said there were two occupants in the vehicle, both from the Midland–Odessa area. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, one occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second occupant was transported to a hospital for treatment. No update on the injured person’s condition was immediately available.

The crash remains under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety, which is handling the review of circumstances surrounding the incident.

Agencies responding to the scene included the Presidio County Sheriff’s Office, Marfa Police Department, Marfa Fire Department, Marfa EMS, U.S. Border Patrol, and Texas DPS.

Authorities have not released the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.
